A Short History of Alptraume

(c)mmx

I first started making animations in about 2004. Armed only with a Logitech webcam and Microsoft Movie Maker I made short stop-go animations using Lego and stuff, usually based around a piece of music. These included a short remake of ‘High Noon’ (with a twin Uzi totting, sunglssed hero), an existential piece inspired by a Camus essay, to the tune of Edith Piaf’s ‘Je ne regretted rien’, and the now notorious ‘Cym Fishing’ satires. During this time Alptraume Pictures was born, and the associated Alptraume Production Facility (APF).

The original APF was based in a 7’ x 12’ shed somewhere in a back garden in post industrial Gwent,  South Wales. In November 2009 we relocated to spacious new premises in rural Monmouthshire, with further expansion planned in early 2010 (an all new 10’ x 10’ fabrication facility to compliment the studio complex. We have also upgraded to a Sony Handycam,  and Adobe Premiere editing software.

2010 will see the launch of all new and totally original Alptraume productions, beginning with ‘Mord Im Holstenwall’ to be released in Spring 2010.
